Arguably, the state of Florida has more available accommodation for its visitors, than any other state of the Union . . . and these can range from a simple Kampground Of America (KOA) cabin to a full service resort. Here we offer some of our favorites for this section of the "Sunshine State."

Fort Pickens (Pensacola) - Fort Pickens is the largest of four forts built to defend Pensacola Bay and its navy yard. The fort was begun in 1829, completed in 1834, and used until the 1940s.
National Museum of Naval Aviation (Pensacola) - one of the largest aviation museums in the country; a Florida top 10 attraction. For aeronautical buffs, a "must see."

There's a perverse pleasure in being able to leave your car (no heavy boots, coats, snow shovel or ice scrapper) in the warm, sunny parking area and heading into the air-conditioned mall.
